Hello again....ten years later.

So it has been a while since I did this; well almost 10 years.  Not sure where the time has gone but maybe I'll catch you up at some point.  I'm not sure why I am doing this but I though it might be fun and let's see where it goes.

My son has been sick since Sunday afternoon.  It is some sort of virus or something.  He's been acting "puny" and not really quite himself.  Today at lunch my wife came by the office and I traded cars with her so I could take him home and she could go to Jazzercise (which is a completely different story).  Before she goes on she tells me that I need to stop by Sonic because she had promised him that he could have a drink.  Now any experienced father realizes that when you walk into this situation there really isn't many ways that you can navigate in any other direction so I head towards Sonic.  I'm thinking to myself "Gee wiz, this three year old is livin' large!".  Why in the world does he need a drink?  Well primarily it is a way that his mother thinks that she is making him feel better because he is sick, duh!!!  So I stop off at Sonic, America's Drive-In.  I notice a sign that says "Download the app, crush a slush" or something.  So I think, hmmm I'll download an app for a free slush.  So I download the app, see that I am now entitled to a free slush and go on to order two drinks.  I notice that through the app one can now pay so I tread forward in the wild frontier of technology meeting business.  While I am attempting to do so the man of the drinks arrives with drinks in hand and straws.  I tell him that the app is still thinking and he proceeds to display his new found knowledge that his employer has such a thing.  "Oh really, dang man I didn't know that we did that!"  The pay feature doesn't work, says that the network is down or something so I proceed to pay him the old fashion way; cash.

I am just like anyone these days; fascinated with technology.  But tell me fellow tech friends; why in the world does the general population get incredibly mystified when technology actually meets a practical use in the business world or everyday life?  Why am I almost certain that if this app was for communicating with God know who on the internet or sharing the latest cat video that this guy would've been an A level tech support employee?
